What do you mean, you don’t have a net? Yes, a baseball net can be expensive. Decent models start at around sixty dollars or so, and you can easily spend a hundred dollars on a good net that’s easy to set up and take down. If you can afford it, however, a baseball net can be one of the best practice investments you can make.
A net is useful at pretty much any practice - set up your net, and almost any sort of batting station benefits from it (you *are* running stations at practice, aren’t you?). In situations like the one descibed above, if you can’t hold a regular practice, a net allows you to do tee drills and soft toss drills in even tiny spaces. If, like most coaches, you hold some (or many) of your team’s baseball practices on a field not specifically designed for baseball - that is, one without an actual backstop - then setting up a net will prevent you from having to chase all of those missed and fouled off pitches.
If you are serious about helping your team to improve, you should seriously consider purchasing a baseball net. In the long run, the benefits to your team will far outweigh the dollars you spend, and you will enjoy this excellent training aid for years to come. | |
